French Mediterranean Coast
Before we went out onto the Pont d'Avignon over the Rhone River we had a look through the museum. It was set up in one of the gatehouse towers that originally defended the bridge and town. We learned about the amazing feat of constructing it and that the Avignon Bridge was 915m long with 22 arches originally. A 23rd arch connected it to the castle's ramparts in the 11th century.
